The Sanctuary Café, Hove : Whoosh! The Launch. Whoosh! The Launch. @ The Sanctuary Café, Hove

Launch of Whoosh! anthology from Queer Writing South featuring readings from anthology contributors and other established queer writers from the region with music courtesy of Al Start.

The South, and Brighton in particular, has featured in many a queer-themed novel so we were delighted to hear the area now has its very own queer writers group, Queer Writing South. What's more, after months of sweat and toil in writing workshops led by renowned queer poets Maria Jastrzębska and John McCullough, the group are publishing an anthology of their work titled 'Whoosh!'.

Featuring a foreword by Chroma editor Shaun Levin, who describes it as 'a collection of new and bold queer voices from Brighton', the anthology's contributors include REALBrighton's former Live Music Editor Bec Chalkley. The project was made possible by the generous support of Awards For All, Brighton & Hove Pride and literature development agency The South.

Whoosh! will be released as part of the Brighton & Hove Pride Festival, with readings by anthology contributors and other established queer writers from the region, and music courtesy of Al Start. We've already reserved our copy…
