pride london... the UK's capital pride

Pride London may have had a few twists and turns on its road to becoming one of the largest Pride events in the world, but it has now got a firm footing with a group of volunteers ensuring that the UK's Capital Pride is in very safe hands.

After a build-up of community and arts events, the main event attracts an estimated half a million people participating in and watching the colourful parade as it winds its way on its journey through the West End's Oxford & Regent Streets - passing Trafalgar Square, Whitehall and Piccadilly.

After the parade, the party gets started with the Main Stage in Trafalgar Square attracting big names in the world of entertainment and politics to lend their support to the event. The women's stage features the talents of top names from the women's scene and there's also much celebration in Soho's streets with all the local bars and clubs helping the revellers revel.

Pride 2008 sees, perhaps aptly, a fairytale adventure theme, and pridegoers are invited to dress for the occasion inspired by fairytale, myth and legend.

Take a look at our listings for full details of what's on, and keep an eye out for our photographers as we're out in force to bring you all the top action. Don't forget that Pride is free, but still costs a huge amount to stage, so do dig deep and put some money in a few buckets to help keep the nation's capital Pride free.

Pride London is a registered charity, and raises awareness on LGBT issues both internationally and locally.
