Proud capital ventures

It’s here, it’s queer and it’s not going shopping. Yes the nation’s capital is about to erupt in frenzy of rainbow colours as London Pride 08 takes centre stage this weekend.

Parading through the city with its Fairytales, Myths & Legends theme via every London landmark imaginable, Pride 08 The Parade will be impossible to miss. Expect floats, flags and fags galore.

The festival will continue in Trafalgar Square where acts, lovies and the communities great and the good will rub shoulders for your entertainment. Some of the proud guests confirmed so far include the Pink Singers, Sir Ian Mckellan, Sandi Thom, Culture Beat, Shena, Amrick Channa Sade and Dick & Dolly. The party then moves to Soho with the Dance Stage in Soho Square hosted by scene-favourites Fire, the Women’s Stage in Dean Street with the best of the women’s scene and new for this year the Black, Asian and Ethnic Music Stage on Carlisle Street.

Add plenty of Pride focused nightlife throughout the capitals clubs and bars and you will have a London weekend quite like no other. But then with an estimated crowd of over half a million expected, the proud party is guaranteed.
