review

It's six days into 2006 and The Honeyclub is full of people who obviously didn't put detoxing at the top of their New Year's resolutions... that or had thrown them out the window already. I mean why bother? The club is being revamped for 2006 (it's getting bigger!) so there are a few holes and some painting to be done but that didn't detract from the atmosphere. As usual with Hard South there was no messing about and resident DJ Salerno was hard as nails from the start.

The guest DJs for tonight were supposed to be Sundissential residents Jez & Charlie but Jez got waylaid along the way so we were left with just Charlie... not that he seemed to need help. He played a blistering set which was breathtaking in it's pace. This man likes it fast, and I mean fast. Every single record was pitched up to a ridiculous degree, which split the dancefloor a bit, but those of us who could keep up loved it! After an hour of this there was a short break for the dancefloor to catch its breath and then residents DJ Twisted and Krunchie took it back to a more reasonable pace, but still, of course, nice and hard - both of them playing quality sets.

Hard South works so well because they get the best guest DJs hard dance has to offer and have brilliant resident DJs who can adapt their style to compliment the guest DJs. Add to that one of the most enthusiastic, friendly and attitude free crowds you'll find and you can't fail.

If that wasn't enough there was an afterparty at the 2 One One (was Honeybar) til 6am with the residents spinning in its two rooms, one room of dirty electro house and one room trance classics. If you like your hard stuff, what more can you ask for?
