review

We were greeted by the glamorous Vanity at the door (stunning as ever!) and ushered in to find the usual Fiction mix of well-dressed movers and shakers, a few people in drag and goreous boys, girls and Soho kids. Loads of friendly faces and plenty of flashing cameras!

Fiction is now in The Island - at the rear of Heaven. Since the Soundshaft days the venue has been transformed into a glamorous club with two dance spaces: The Lounge (main room) has an oval bar in the middle of the floor with VIP balcony overlooking; and The Vault (the old Heaven Saturday night pop room) is a smaller, moodier alternative to the uplifting main room with it's own 'bottle bar'.

DJ Miswhite kicked the night off to a full dance floor in The Lounge playing a more vocal side of house music and commercial tunes... the place wasn't packed so it was good to have a bit of elbow room to dance!
The sound system in here is banging and sounded perfect from every corner of the room. Nathan 6 and Luke Hope followed and brought an updated version of that funky Fiction lounge sound to WC2. Vault DJs Malcolm Duffy and Nick Bridges complemented the Lounge sound playing darker and dirtier house tunes, keeping the loyal underground crowd on the floor.

Fiction in its current home is a fresh alternative to the scene. It's fantastic to hear new DJs mixed in with more established ones. Its location is much more convenient and with it being a smaller venue, the crowd seem to be even friendlier. The friendliness of the management team also has to be mentioned with everyone from Lee, Gheghe, to Stefan and Miguel eager to share their appreciation for the great night they were having.

Top marks Blue Cube... Fridays are Fiction nights once again! If you're into Stylish Funky House and/or Dark Underground House with laser lights and a friendly crowd... well, look no further!
